When can babies have Sweet Potato?
Sweet potato can be introduced from around 6 months of age, when your baby is developmentally ready to start complementary foods. It has a naturally soft texture when cooked and can be easily mashed or served as soft finger food, making it suitable for both spoon-feeding and baby-led weaning.
Sweet potato is a good source of carbohydrates for energy and provides beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A to support healthy vision, immune function and growth.
Is there any choking risk?
Sweet potato is not considered a high-risk choking food when cooked until soft. However, firm chunks, crispy roasted cubes or undercooked pieces can be difficult for babies to chew and may increase the risk of choking.
