When can babies have Broccoli?
Broccoli can be introduced once your baby is ready to start complementary foods, usually around 6 months of age. It provides vitamin C, fibre and plant compounds that support overall health. Vitamin C also helps improve the absorption of iron from plant-based foods.
Is there any choking risk?
Broccoli is safe for babies when cooked until very soft. Raw broccoli, firm stems and undercooked florets can be difficult to chew and may become lodged in a baby's airway. Steam until fork-tender before serving.
As your child's chewing skills improve, you can gradually offer smaller pieces while continuing to cook them until tender.
