When can babies have Avocado?
Avocado is often recommended as an early complementary food because it has a naturally soft texture and is rich in monounsaturated fats, which support healthy brain development. It also contains fibre, folate, potassium and vitamin E.

Is there any choking risk?
A ripe avocado is naturally soft and easy to mash with the gums, making it a suitable first food. However, its smooth surface can be difficult for babies to grip during self-feeding. Offering thick slices rolled in finely ground oats, baby cereal or unsweetened desiccated coconut can improve grip.

Avoid serving large, hard pieces of underripe avocado, as these require more chewing and may increase the choking risk.
